There are well over 200 acupuncture points that are located in the ear. These points, when stimulated, send a signal directly to the area of your brain that we are stimulating in your ear. (example: Stimulating the lung point of your ear will send a direct signal to the lung area of your brain) Out of these 200, there are approximately 12 that when used in combination are very effective for quitting smoking or chewing tobacco. In fact, the average patient will reduce their intake by at least half within 24 hours after the first treatment. Some may quit after just the first treatment, while most are able to quit after just a few treatments. Still, some may take a little longer. A lot depends on how committed you are to quitting.

Some of the points treated will actually make the cigarettes/chewing tobacco taste bad, and some people may even become sick and nauseated when trying to smoke or chew. Some of the ear points will help in reducing the anxiety and depression associated with trying to quit. When these points are used in combination, they are very potent.

We use an acupuncture micro-current device called "ACU-GRAPH" (painless - some may feel a mild electrical pulse.) to stimulate the points. The points may also be treated with acupuncture needles, laser, or the ear staple (only one per ear in the lung points). The ACU-GRAPH is specifically designed for the treatment of acupuncture points. When treating the ear points, it has been found that different micro-current frequencies are needed for the best stimulation of each ear zone. The ACU-GRAPH gives us the ability to treat each ear zone with the proper frequency. After the ACU-GRAPH treatment we place tiny ear magnets on some of the ear points, held on by small band-aids, that will intensify the micro-current treatment.
